Who are we?
The Goochland Professional Firefighters Association was founded in August of 2011 in Goochland County, Virginia. As a member of both the International Association of Firefighters and Virginia Professional Firefighters Association, we represent the career firefighters, paramedics, and several operational support staff that work to make Goochland County safe for its citizens, business owners, and visitors. Our local is actively involved with the leadership of Goochland County Fire-Rescue to constantly improve working conditions, safety standards, and operational procedures which protect our staff and provide for efficient fire, rescue, and emergency services response within the county. The Beginning!
In 1998, Goochland County contracted with Lifeline Ambulance to provide career emergency medical technicians to certain fire stations scattered throughout the county. After relations between the County and Lifeline broke down, the decision was made for the county to hire its own career firefighters in March of 2009.
